Exciting Upcoming Movie “Able” Champions Inclusion and Awareness
Sometimes visitors walk into the Playhouse with a handshake and leave with a hug. Last month we had the pleasure meeting of one of those visitors. We had the honor of welcoming writer, director, and producer Kelly Lintz for a special visit. Kelly toured our Playhouse, learned about our mission, and engaged in meaningful discussions about changing the way the world views Down syndrome. She shared her passion for inclusion, awareness, and her vision for an inspiring new movie: Able.
Able is a powerful film based on the real-life story of Kayla Kosmalski, a determined and talented teen with Down syndrome. The story highlights her journey and the efforts of her mother, who was driven to create a life of full inclusion for her daughter. Kayla’s story is one of perseverance, ambition, and advocacy, showing the world that individuals with Down syndrome are capable of anything.
The film aligns perfectly with our mission at GiGi’s Playhouse, as its goal is to shift the narrative surrounding a Down syndrome diagnosis. More than just a movie, Able seeks to inspire conversations about inclusion and to partner with like-minded organizations, such as GiGi’s Playhouse and the Auburn Eagles program, to raise awareness. Additionally, the project aims to create employment opportunities for individuals with Down syndrome, reinforcing the message of real-world inclusion.
Kelly Lintz’s visit to GiGi’s Playhouse Atlanta was an exciting opportunity to connect and collaborate on spreading awareness for this important project. We were so impressed with her vision that we have invited her and Kayla to speak at our ‘i have a voice’ Gala this year! It’s always a joy to see others joining our mission, and we are thrilled to support Able in its journey to the big screen. We encourage our community to follow along, spread the word, and help ensure this film is made, seen, and celebrated.
We can’t wait to watch Able! Stay tuned for more updates on this incredible project.
