Beazer Charity Foundation Transforms GiGi’s Playhouse Atlanta with a Dream Kitchen
For over two years, the Beazer Charitable Foundation has been a dedicated partner of GiGi’s Playhouse Atlanta, continuously demonstrating their commitment to our mission of changing the way the world views Down syndrome. Through generous grants, enthusiastic participation in our GiGiFIT Acceptance Challenge, and hands-on involvement in fundraising events, Beazer has fully invested in our cause.
In April 2024, we proudly hosted our Grand Re-Opening event to celebrate the expansion of our Playhouse. While we had made great strides in our renovations, one crucial space remained unfinished: the kitchen. At the event, we displayed a rendering of our vision for the kitchen, hoping to inspire future support. Kristi Crawford of Beazer Homes saw this vision and immediately began thinking of ways to bring it to life.
A few months later, Kristi arranged a meeting with the GiGi’s Playhouse team and made a heartfelt declaration—Beazer would take on the project and create our dream kitchen. The news brought overwhelming gratitude, with emotions running high and tears of appreciation flowing. Not only did Beazer cover contractor expenses, but they also reached out to their vendors, securing generous donations of high-quality materials and appliances. Whirlpool contributed state-of-the-art appliances, including a washer and dryer, making this project even more transformative.
Kristi’s generosity didn’t stop there. She also allocated thousands of charity dollars to provide essential supplies and tools for the kitchen, ensuring it would be fully stocked and functional for our participants. Additionally, she sent an abundance of snacks for our participants to enjoy, further enhancing the welcoming and nurturing environment of GiGi’s Playhouse.
This renovation has been and will continue to be life-changing for our participants. With a fully functional kitchen, they can now learn and practice essential life skills such as cooking, washing dishes, and doing laundry. Our programming options have also expanded, allowing us to bake, store perishable items, and provide even more enriching experiences.
The journey of this incredible transformation was captured in a video by Andrew Spratt, which debuted at the official ribbon-cutting ceremony on February 4. During this special event, we recognized and expressed our heartfelt thanks to the contributing contractors and vendors who dedicated their time, expertise, and resources to making this dream a reality. It was an honor to give all the folks from Beazer and their partners a tour of our Playhouse and be able to show them how impactful their work is to our community.
We could not be more appreciative of this project and the incredible generosity of Beazer Charity Foundation, Whirlpool, and all those who contributed. Their unwavering support has provided an invaluable resource for our participants, empowering them with the skills and confidence to thrive in everyday life.
From all of us at GiGi’s Playhouse Atlanta—thank you!
