Anna’s Music Best of All!

Anna has been a dedicated participant in the Music Makers program since it began in January 2024. While she typically enjoys grooving in her preferred seat, it often takes a bit of encouragement from volunteers to get her to try an instrument. However, during our last session, something remarkable happened.

Volunteer lead Scott provided a lesson on different rhythms on the drums. Without any hesitation, Anna jumped up and stood next to Scott. When given the drumsticks, she not only stood for half the session drumming away but also kept the beat perfectly!

During a small break, Scott picked up the guitar. Once again, without any hesitation, Anna went and stood by Scott, strumming the guitar for the rest of the session. Her inner rockstar shone brightly that day, and we were thrilled to see the confidence she displayed by being up front. We love seeing her enthusiasm and the joy she brings to the program!

A special thank you to Amanda Servi for capturing these precious moments through her photography. Your talent helps us cherish and share these wonderful experiences.

Music has numerous benefits for Playhouse participants, significantly enhancing their overall development and well-being. Engaging with music can improve motor skills through activities like clapping, dancing, and playing instruments, which help develop coordination and rhythm. It also enhances communication by providing a universal language that transcends verbal barriers, allowing participants to express themselves more freely and improve their listening skills. Additionally, music boosts self-confidence as participants experience a sense of accomplishment and pride from performing and receiving positive feedback. It serves as a therapeutic outlet for emotional expression and regulation, helping participants manage their emotions in a supportive environment. Group music activities foster social interaction, creating a sense of community and improving teamwork skills. Moreover, learning and playing music stimulates cognitive development, enhancing memory, attention, and problem-solving abilities. Overall, music brings joy, growth, and a sense of achievement to Playhouse participants, enriching their lives in numerous ways.
