Celebrating Leadership and Community at GiGi’s Playhouse Sacramento

At GiGi’s Playhouse Sacramento, we are continually inspired by the growth, leadership, and dedication of the individuals and volunteers who make our community so special.

Best of All: Eva

This month’s Best of All celebrates Eva for her outstanding leadership and confidence during our Teen Social Skills program! Eva stepped up to help lead the slime making activity by working alongside the program leader to prepare materials and guide her peers through each step of the project.

Her leadership continued to shine during a cooking activity, where her program leader shared, “Eva demonstrated strong reading, communication, and leadership skills when she read the recipe aloud while her peers prepared the Rice Krispy treats.”

Eva’s willingness to help others, take initiative, and build her leadership skills is a wonderful example of what Best of All is all about. We are so proud of you, Eva. Keep up the amazing work!

Harneet first discovered GiGi’s Playhouse Sacramento while searching for a volunteer opportunity and was immediately inspired by our mission. “I was inspired by the magnitude that GiGi’s cares about its community and wanted to be a small part of it.” Drawn to our unique, volunteer-driven model and the opportunity to learn more about Down syndrome, she quickly became a valued member of our volunteer team.

One of Harneet’s favorite memories is our annual Trunk or Treat event. “It felt like such a tight-knit and close community and really embodied what the center means.” Through volunteering, she has learned so much about Down syndrome, enjoyed working with teens and children, and found a true sense of community while helping participants reach their goals.

Harneet’s favorite program is GiGi’s Kitchen Teens, where she loves cooking alongside participants and hearing the stories they share. “Once I started going regularly to the same programs each week, I recognized many participants. It made it easier to facilitate discussion and made it more enjoyable.”

We are incredibly grateful for Harneet’s dedication, compassion, and enthusiasm. Volunteers like her help make GiGi’s Playhouse a place where everyone can learn, grow, and belong.

Stories like Eva’s and Harneet’s are made possible because of the incredible community that surrounds GiGi’s Playhouse Sacramento. Whether you volunteer your time, participate in a program, or support our mission through a donation, there are many ways to get involved and make a difference.

Join us in helping individuals with Down syndrome build confidence, develop skills, reach their goals, and thrive. Together, we can continue creating a community where everyone can learn, grow, and belong. Learn more about how you can get involved with GiGi’s Playhouse Sacramento today. Volunteer – Sacramento
