Show Us the LOVE

This month, we are feeling the love! The Rockford community has pulled out all the stops for our month of love, and we could not be more grateful. There are so many outstanding displays of love that we decided to list them for you!

Home Depot: Talk about showing love to our Playhouse! 30 fantastic people from our local Rockford and Machesney Park Home Depots’ showed up and showed out for us in the form of an overall Playhouse spruce. Firstly, they painted nearly every wall in the building and gave our tutoring rooms a complete makeover in the way of bright accent colors and a chalkboard wall. However, the love did not stop there! They donated loads of supplies, from toolboxes to brand-new furniture they put together for us. Not only did they show our building lots of serious love and care, but they also showed our GiGi U participants some love. Home Depot brought us some kits to complete with their staff, and our students had a great time! Their attention to detail was excellent, as they wanted each improvement to our building to reflect our mission and provide a purpose for our participants. Thank you, Home Depot!

ITW: For the second time, our friends at ITW have given us some love through a super fun bowling fundraiser at Park Lanes! Along with the bowling, they did a silent auction and some raffles, with all the proceeds given to us. This fundraiser was a tremendous success and so much fun! Thank you for the love, ITW!

Parks Chamber of Commerce: The Parks Chamber of Commerce teamed up with Baked Wings to show love to our Playhouse with a successful fundraiser, complete with yummy food and some raffles. The cool thing about the raffles they presented is that member organizations of the Chamber supplied all the prizes. We love this unique raffle idea! Thank you, Parks Chamber and Baked Wings!

Knights of Colombus South Beloit: The Knights of Colombus proved that you can show love to the community however you want. The Knights had a Tootsie Roll drive that collected nearly $1000 for GiGi’s Playhouse Rockford. That’s a lot of Tootsie Rolls and a LOT of love! Thank you, South Beloit Knights!

Rock Valley Credit Union: A lovely group from the Rock Valley Credit Union came in to give us some love in the form of a giant check for $500 that our GiGi U students were more than happy to pose with. The employees of Rock Valley Credit Union chose GiGi’s Playhouse Rockford as the beneficiary of their Random Acts of Kindness. We love that! Thank you, Rock Valley Credit Union.

Rockford Christian: Our friends at Rockford Christian had a day of love this month, too! They decided to spend that day with us at the Playhouse. 17 Rockford Christian students came to the Playhouse to complete their community volunteering project with an amazing FriYAY Party for our career development students. They came ready to show the love and party with a slime-making station, jewelry-making, bags, basketball, baseball, a few games, and a giant dance party! We love the energy they brought to our participants. Thank you, Rockford Christian!

Taylor Company: Finally, we have the Taylor Company. Each month, the Taylor Company votes on a charity to donate to, and GiGi’s was the overall winner for February! They gave us their love and generosity through a $1,000 check. Thank you so much for your love and support!

Thank you to everyone who participated in our month of love!

P.S. If you’re wondering how many times we said the word love, it’s 22!
