GiGi’s Playhouse Rockford

GiGi’s Playhouse Rockford will be holding their Annual Volunteer  Open House on Monday, October 15, 2012 from 3:00p.m.  to 7:00p.m.  at the Playhouse at 8801 N. 2^nd Street, Ste 2, Machesney Park, IL.  GiGi’s Playhouse serves babies, children, teens and adults with Down syndrome and other developmental disabilities  and their families through educational and socialization programs.

GiGi’s Playhouse is a one staff, volunteer run organization which means volunteers are very important to our mission and day to day activities .

Some of our current volunteer needs include:

• Current and/or retired teachers or education students who will help tutor children, teens and adults with Literacy and Math.  Our Literacy and Math  programs are an enhancement for the child and parent to what they are currently learning in their school.  Literacy and Math Tutor Training for tutoring an individual with Down syndrome is available through the playhouse.
• People interested in working and organizing holiday events for all ages.
• Therapists to run play based activities to benefit kids and their parents in the 0-12 age group.  This would include:  developmental, speech, occupational, music and physical therapists.
• Creative administrative computer work.
• People to join or form a clean team of 3 committing to once a month.
• Mentors/volunteers for Teen Program – volunteer must be 13 yrs of age.
• Volunteers for Adult Program – volunteer must be 18 yrs. of age.

Please stop in to our Open House this next Monday, October 15th from 3:00 – 7:00 to see what you can do to fill our many volunteer needs and to help out a great organization.  If you are unable to make this day and time, please call the playhouse to inquire into our next Volunteer Orientation date at 815-654-7529.
