GiGi’s Playhouse is more than a place – it’s such a supportive community.

Hi, my name is Ashley, and I live in Chapel Hill.  I volunteer regularly with Fantastic Friends at GiGi’s Playhouse Chapel Hill satellite location.  Adult participants get together monthly for social activities, games, a craft, and a snack.  Some months we enjoy a movie and popcorn together instead.  It’s great to see many of the same participants and volunteers month to month, and I’ve made many (fantastic!) friendships over the past year.

GiGi’s Playhouse is more than a place – it’s such a supportive community.  I love that I often bump into someone from the GiGi’s family out and about around town – at the grocery store, gas station, kids activities, etc…. it always makes my day!

As a parent, it is important for me that my children have opportunities to grow though service as a volunteer, and GiGi’s is a wonderful place for them to do so.  My oldest has helped me volunteer for Leaps and Bounds and some of the other programs, and she truly has a heart for GiGi’s participants.

In addition to volunteering with programs, I enjoy working “behind-the-scenes,” writing grants and reports to help bring in funding to the Playhouse.  The past few years has been marked by tremendous growth at the Playhouse.  I’m excited to see what the future brings!

Our dedicated volunteers share their many talents with our playhouse and participants, pouring themselves into the growth and opportunities we provide here at GiGi’s. We are incredibly lucky to have volunteers who work behind the scenes, helping with crucial components of having a successful playhouse but not always “seen” giving their time. Thank you Ashley for sharing your heart, talent and time with our playhouse!
