Volunteer at GiGi's Playhouse Quad Cities

Thank you for your interest in becoming a Volunteer. GiGi’s Playhouse is a volunteer run organization and we rely on the skill and dedication of volunteers of various levels of expertise to keep our programs vibrant, educational, fun and free.  Parents, family members, clinicians, and individuals who believe in the GiGi’s Playhouse mission act as volunteers in GiGi’s Playhouse programs, events, administrative offices, and on our Board of Members.

Below are a few examples of volunteering opportunities available here at the Playhouse.

Types of Volunteer Opportunities

Program Leaders – Help plan the program of choice and implement the plan at the scheduled time. Planning includes age-appropriate lesson plans, material and activity preparation, etc. Staff and other volunteers may be available to help.

Host Families - Ideal for fellow GiGi families. Become a program host. Welcome other families to the Playhouse. Ensure they have what they need to be comfortable and have a positive experience while here.

Program Volunteers – Program volunteers assist the program leader with implementation of the program at the scheduled time. This may include helping with story, snack, and/or activities. It will also include set-up and clean-up.

Administrative Volunteers – Administrative volunteer needs range from making copies, phone calls, data entry, etc. This could also include IT work to help keep technology updated and running smoothly.

Cleaning/Organization Volunteers – Our toys, materials, and facility needs cleaning and sanitizing on a regular basis. If you’re interested in vacuuming, cleaning bathrooms, wiping down toys, etc then this volunteer role is just what you need!

Special Events/Fundraising – We organize and plan 2-3 of our own fundraisers each year in addition to benefiting from a variety of fundraisers that are organized by community organizations/groups on our behalf. These events bring a variety of volunteer opportunities with them such as selling raffles tickets, hanging fliers, recruitment of donated items/sponsors, marketing, and other tasks.

Tutors – One-on-one literacy and/or math tutors needed. Tutors will be trained on the topic of their choice and will work with the assigned individuals for 45 minutes, once a week, during a ten-week session. Tutor sessions are flexible to meet your schedule. New tutors are asked to complete a volunteer interest form prior to signing up to become a tutor.

Board of Managers – The Playhouse is overseen by a group of volunteers serving as a board of managers. The board of managers meets monthly, is responsible for fundraising, serving on committees, and making decisions related to the Playhouse. If you are interested in becoming a board member, please contact the Playhouse for more information.
