Meet the Board: Krysti Spadea

We are pleased to launch our new blog series, Meet the Board! This week, we would like to introduce Krystina Spadea. Krysti works in the Chief Business Office at Pfizer, Inc. She joined the Board of Directors at GiGi’s Playhouse NYC in 2020 and is the Chair of the Communications Committee. Please enjoy the below Q&A with Krysti. 

How and when did you first get involved with GiGi’s Playhouse NYC? 

I joined the board of GiGi’s NYC earlier this year, in April 2020, during the COVID pandemic. I was especially drawn to the message of acceptance for all. From the moment that I first met with Frank, Pat and Jane, and saw their passion and energy, I knew that I wanted to contribute to the mission of this organization.

What does your role on the Board look like?

I lead the Marketing and Communications Committee (or MarCom for short) with Amy Romero. We are responsible for developing strategies to spread the message of GiGi’s NYC and connect with our community. I am also part of the Gala Committee and Development Committee. I am incredibly proud of the success of our very first virtual gala this year and look forward to hopefully attending the gala in person next year!

What is your favorite thing about the GiGi’s NYC community? 

My favorite part about joining the GiGi’s board has been the opportunity to meet such a talented, passionate, and motivated group of people. I truly believe that when we work together, the possibilities are endless!

What from our community are you most proud of?

I have been amazed by the strong sense of community at GiGi’s NYC, especially during this difficult time and even in this virtual environment. The lifelong commitment to participants of all ages and their families, and the unwavering dedication to acceptance makes me proud to be part of this inspiring community. I am proud of how we have found a way to come together, offer creative online programs and events, and support each other even though we are apart.

What do you look forward to doing at the Playhouse once we can safely gather there again?

I look forward to seeing the Playhouse and meeting everyone in person!
