GiGi’s NYC Career Development Program: Panel Discussion at Microsoft!

On 10/3/2023, students from GiGi’s NYC Career Development Programs attended a panel discussion at Microsoft in Times Square. Our Career Development Programs for adults with Down syndrome ages 18+ are three-tiered: GiGi Prep is the first step, followed by GiGi University, then GiGi Professional. GiGi’s NYC launched GiGi Prep in 2023, and we plan to launch GiGi U in 2024 with GiGi Professional to follow. Our Career Development Programs are designed for individuals aspiring to continue on the career development path and place emphasis on building communication skills, money management, team building, and wellness.

The purpose of the panel discussion at Microsoft was to strengthen the formal communication skills of our GiGi Prep students who are actively working towards their future goals. In addition to our 7 students, we were joined by employees of Microsoft, Avanade, Accenture, and Nasdaq. All participants took turns asking and answering career-related questions, and were given pointers and best practices by seasoned professionals in their respective fields of work. Our students gained invaluable experience, and we are immensely thankful to Microsoft, Avanade, Accenture, and Nasdaq for allowing them this opportunity to learn and grow. Inclusion ROCKS!
