Volunteer Spotlight: Kaitlyn Russell and Lauren Sartain

Kaitlyn Russell and Lauren Sartain are exceptional volunteers at GiGi’s Playhouse Nashville, where they lead the Friends, Fun, & Fitness: CrossFit program. Their commitment to creating a healthy and engaging environment for participants has been a vital part of GiGi’s fitness programming. Both Kaitlyn and Lauren have dedicated years of service, investing countless hours to support and encourage the community through fitness.

In addition to their leadership in fitness, Kaitlyn and Lauren are at the helm of organizing the upcoming Row for a Reason fundraiser. Their tireless work ensures the event will raise much-needed funds while promoting health and wellness among participants. The Row for a Reason initiative is yet another testament to their vision for integrating fitness and fun into GiGi’s Playhouse programming.

Beyond her volunteer work, Lauren is a professional florist and owner of LMA Designs. Her generosity extends to GiGi’s annual Gala, where she donates stunning floral arrangements, enhancing the event’s beauty and atmosphere. Lauren’s contributions reflect her deep dedication to the GiGi’s Playhouse community.

Together, Kaitlyn and Lauren embody the spirit of dedication and community that defines GiGi’s Playhouse Nashville. Through their leadership in fitness and their involvement in vital fundraisers like Row for a Reason, they continue to make a lasting impact on the lives of participants and families. Their generosity and passion for creating meaningful experiences have not only enhanced GiGi’s programming but also strengthened the sense of connection and support within the Playhouse. Kaitlyn and Lauren’s ongoing commitment is truly inspiring, and their contributions will be felt for years to come.

Participant Spotlight: Maddie Anisi

Maddie Anisi brings joy and energy to GiGi’s Playhouse Nashville, where her fun and creative personality shines. As an adult participant, she looks forward to attending Fantastic Friends, a social group that provides adults with Down syndrome a welcoming space to connect, laugh, and build friendships. Maddie’s enthusiasm for the program is contagious, and she always brings a bright spirit that uplifts everyone around her.

Her sense of humor is one of her standout qualities, and she often finds ways to make those around her smile and laugh. Whether through witty remarks or playful interactions, Maddie’s humor adds a joyful dynamic to the Fantastic Friends group. Participants and volunteers alike enjoy spending time with her, as she brings a lightheartedness that makes each gathering special.

Maddie’s creativity also plays a big role in her involvement at GiGi’s. She loves to express herself, whether it’s through art, conversation, or participation in group activities. Her imaginative ideas and willingness to share them encourage others to be creative too, making her a key part of the Fantastic Friends experience. Maddie’s presence brings so much joy to everyone at GiGi’s Nash.

Tutor Spotlight: Belmont Occupational Therapy Students

Sarah, Lilly, and Amanda are Occupational Therapy interns at GiGi’s Playhouse Nashville, and their dedication to tutoring participants with Down syndrome has been a true asset to our community. Their passion for helping others and their growing expertise in occupational therapy allow them to create meaningful, individualized learning experiences for each participant. By fostering a positive, inclusive environment, they empower individuals to achieve their literacy and personal development goals.

Lilly brings a compassionate and methodical approach to her sessions, ensuring that participants feel supported as they work toward improving their skills. Sarah’s creativity and enthusiasm shine in her lessons, where she integrates fun, engaging activities that keep the participants motivated and excited about learning. Amanda is known for her patient and nurturing nature, always taking the time to understand each participant’s unique strengths and challenges, helping them build confidence in their abilities.

Together, Sarah, Lilly, and Amanda are a dynamic trio, seamlessly blending their academic training with the heart-centered mission of GiGi’s Playhouse Nashville. Their impact on our participants goes beyond tutoring, as they help cultivate independence and a love for learning that will serve participants well beyond their sessions. We’re grateful to have such passionate interns making a difference in the lives of our community.
