Volunteer Spotlight: Tiffany Wenzler

Meet Tiffany, an incredible volunteer at GiGi’s Playhouse Nashville. As a founding board member, Tiffany has been a cornerstone of our community for more than a decade, dedicating her time, energy, and love to make a difference in the lives of individuals with Down syndrome and their families. Her journey with GiGi’s began as a loving mother of a child with Down syndrome, which led her to founding GiGi’s Nashville along with several other incredible families in 2013. This personal connection fuels her unwavering commitment and passion, inspiring everyone around her.

One of the many highlights of Tiffany’s contributions is the annual GiGi’s Luau, an event she plans and hosts with extraordinary flair. Tiffany’s dedication to creating a magical experience for our participants and their families is evident in every detail of the luau. From vibrant decorations and delicious food to fun games and lively entertainment, she ensures that every aspect of the event is perfect. Her ability to bring joy and create lasting memories for our community is truly remarkable.

Tiffany’s impact extends throughout every part of GiGi’s. Her warmth, generosity, and leadership have been integral to the growth and success of GiGi’s Playhouse Nashville. She is a source of support and encouragement for other families, sharing her experiences and offering invaluable guidance. Tiffany embodies the spirit of GiGi’s Playhouse, sharing her time and personal journey as a source of strength and inspiration for others. We are profoundly grateful for her continued dedication and the countless ways she enriches our community.

Participant Spotlight: Spencer Quehl

Meet Spencer, a vibrant 20-year-old man whose infectious humor and zest for life light up every room he enters. As a cherished member of GiGi’s Playhouse Nashville, Spencer embodies the spirit of our community with his joyful presence and unwavering enthusiasm. His laughter and playful nature are a constant reminder of the joy that inclusivity brings, making him a beloved figure at GiGi’s Nashville.

This past spring, Spencer participated in Achievers, a comprehensive program designed to equip adults with Down syndrome with essential life skills. Throughout the program, Spencer’s dedication to learning was truly inspiring. He embraced the challenges of cooking with a keen interest, mastering recipes and techniques that will serve him well in his culinary endeavors. In addition to cooking, Spencer also delved into money management, showcasing his determination to understand financial literacy. His progress in this program is a testament to his hard work and the supportive environment provided by GiGi’s Playhouse.

Spencer’s journey with us is a powerful example of the transformative impact our programs can have. His growth highlights the importance of providing opportunities for individuals with Down syndrome to thrive. Spencer’s story is about more than his achievements; it’s a celebration of the boundless potential within every individual we serve. As we continue to empower and uplift our community, Spencer’s vibrant spirit reminds us all of the incredible difference we can make together.

Tutor Spotlight: Christine Gupton

Christine wears two hats at GiGi’s Playhouse Nashville: tutor and proud mom. Her daughter, a teenager with Down syndrome, learned to read with the GiGi’s tutoring program. Witnessing this transformation firsthand sparked a fire in Christine. Those moments of her daughter’s success fueled a desire to give back, to help other individuals experience the same joy of learning. Now, Christine dedicates herself to guiding young minds, becoming a patient and encouraging presence on their educational journeys.

Christine’s story is a powerful example of the impact of GiGi’s Playhouse. It’s a place where families find support, and where individuals with Down syndrome discover their full potential. Her passion and dedication inspire not only the individuals she tutors, but also the entire GiGi’s Nashville community. Her commitment reflects the spirit of this special place, where every person is celebrated and empowered to reach for their dreams. We are so grateful to have Christine on our team!
