Volunteer Spotlight: Himani Chonkar
We were thrilled to welcome Himani to our team this summer as an intern through the Area Health Education Center (AHEC) Community Health Intern Program (CHIP). She was an outstanding “CHIPtern,” and we feel incredibly fortunate to have had her on board!
Himani is currently entering her junior year at the University of Wisconsin–Madison, where she’s pursuing a Bachelor of Science in both Neurobiology and Data Science. Outside the classroom, she enjoys cooking, spending time with family and friends, and expressing her creativity through painting.
Her passion for inclusive health initiatives began in high school, where she worked closely with teens and young adults with disabilities and took an active role in clubs focused on advocacy and increasing awareness around disability research. Looking ahead, Himani hopes to attend graduate school with a focus on neurodegenerative research and global health policy implementation.
During her time with us, Himani contributed to a wide range of outreach and resource development projects. She translated key family and volunteer applications into Spanish, helped build connections with Alianza Latina to better reach Spanish-speaking families, organized and streamlined our growing list of community and business partners, supported our programs, and so much more.
We’re deeply grateful for Himani’s contributions and our continued partnership with the CHIP program. We look forward to staying connected and seeing all that Himani accomplishes in the future!
