Meet The New McHenry County Speech Language Pathologist

Hi, I’m Katie!  I’m a Speech Language Pathologist and live in Crystal Lake.  I am so excited to join the GiGi’s Playhouse team in McHenry!  In the past, I have worked at NIRSA as a summer camp counselor and at Special Olympics in the Torch Run department. I also tutored adults with Down syndrome for the Central Illinois Down Syndrome Association.  I completed my undergraduate degree at Illinois State University (Go Redbirds) earning a Bachelors Degree in Communication Sciences and Disorders. I continued on to Midwestern University where I earned my Masters Degree in Speech Pathology.  I completed practicums in the University Clinic, school settings, and the outpatient hospital setting.  I worked in a middle school for two years serving a self-contained autism program and a program for students with intellectual disabilities.  This past year I have been working in an early childhood center servicing students with a wide range of abilities.  I recently got married this fall and have two adorable dogs.  I am very passionate about helping people through speech and language therapy.  I am happy to be returning to where my heart belongs, nonprofit work.
