​1. Tell us about Garvin Exteriors and why you wanted to start this company.
Garvin Exteriors is a premier roofing company based in Cypress, Texas serving the Greater Houston area. We specialize in residential roofing, gutters and attic insulation. We started the business to change the negative stigma and overpricing observed after working at a nation-wide home remodeling company for over a decade. Many homeowners have had horrible experiences with roofing contractors and the credibility of a contractor always seems to be in question. We are here to change that viewpoint by working with the homeowner, increasing their knowledge and education of product, process and what is exactly being purchased while offering affordable solutions, services and support with 100% transparent and active communication throughout the journey.

2. What are some of your favorite hobbies and interests?
As a family we love trying new restaurants around town and playing outside with our son, Luke. Whether it’s at the neighborhood parks, splashpads, or the endless walking trails — if the sun is shining you can find us outside. Kristin enjoys a good problem to solve, interior design and making things look fresh and new. Chris enjoys collecting sports trading cards and fishing.

3. When did you first get involved with GiGi’s Playhouse Houston?
Many of you know Miss Elliott Joy and their rockstar parents Brad and Aubrey Honer — they inspired us to be apart of such a generous organization. As long time friend, seeing the Honer’s passion for change and impact they were making in the community and for their (at the time) future daughter was incredibly moving. As the Honer’s involvement grew with GiGi’s Playhouse Houston, it was simply contagious for us to want to be involved. That was 2017, since then we have been engaged with the Houston Playhouse on a personal level and more recently made a pledge from our company to dedicate a portion of every sale to give to GiGi’s Playhouse Houston. We’ve seen firsthand the impact this organization has made on the families and the expansion of the program offerings serving a wide array of ages and we could not be prouder to partner with such an incredible organization that spreads such kindness, acceptance and empowerment.

4. What inspires you about the mission of GiGi’s Playhouse Houston?
Not only is GiGi’s Playhouse Houston genuinely committed to making a positive impact on the lives of individuals with Down syndrome empowering skill sets offering support and services at zero cost, what really gets us is the undertaking of the organization to challenge today’s society to promote kindness, educate and accept all with different abilities. To us, it is a movement that everyone can learn from and we will get behind and support every step of the way.

5. What would you say to someone who is considering supporting GiGi’s Playhouse Houston?
“Don’t think – Just Do it!” Supporting GiGi’s Playhouse Houston is a no brainer because we have seen the impact it has made on so many individuals. GiGi’s Playhouse of Houston has created such a positive platform with invaluable support, resources and opportunities, empowering individuals with Down syndrome to thrive and fulfill their potential.
