Participant Spotlight: Bode’s Journey of Learning and Growth

At GiGi’s Playhouse Houston, we are honored to celebrate the incredible individuals who make our community so special. Today, we’re shining the spotlight on Bode, a determined and inspiring young adult who is embracing every opportunity for learning, growth, and independence.

A Passion for Learning

Bode joined GiGi’s Playhouse Houston in Fall 2024 and has been an active participant in our adult programs whenever his busy schedule allows. As a dedicated student, he balances his time between college coursework and personal development, making the most of every opportunity to grow.

This spring, Bode is taking part in our Speech and Language sessions, a program designed to enhance communication skills and build confidence. His commitment to learning is truly inspiring, and we are so proud to support him on his journey.

Paving the Way in Higher Education

At 22 years old, Bode is in his final year at the University of St. Thomas, where he is enrolled in the Pragmatic Studies program. This innovative two-year associate degree is designed for students with learning differences, providing personalized instruction and a supportive environment to help students achieve postsecondary success.

Through Universal Design for Learning (UDL), Bode and his fellow students engage in coursework that prepares them for future careers, personal independence, and lifelong learning. Graduates of this program are also eligible to continue their education through the Bachelor of Applied Arts and Science in Social Innovation and Human Service degree—opening even more doors for success.

A Bright Future Ahead

Bode’s journey is a testament to the power of perseverance, inclusion, and community support. Whether he’s engaging in programs at GiGi’s Playhouse, excelling in his university courses, or working on his communication skills, Bode is embracing every opportunity to grow.
