Zac’s Big Step Toward Independence

At GiGi’s Playhouse Hoffman Estates, we celebrate every milestone—big or small—because we know each step represents growth, confidence, and opportunity. Recently, Zac achieved an exciting milestone on his journey toward independence, and we couldn’t be prouder.

For the very first time, Zac took an Uber all on his own to attend his Career Program at GiGi’s Playhouse. When he walked through our doors, his face lit up with pride as he greeted everyone and announced:
“Guess what I did today? I took an Uber all on my own!”

This incredible moment wasn’t just about getting from point A to point B—it was about building life skills. For Zac, learning how to arrange transportation, ride safely, and arrive independently are powerful steps toward self-reliance. These everyday experiences teach problem-solving, responsibility, and confidence, which will serve him far beyond our walls.

We are deeply grateful to the Schaumburg Township Mental Health Board for making moments like this possible. Through a recent grant supporting transportation for residents, barriers are being removed so participants like Zac can attend programs that empower them to build independence, prepare for careers, and embrace new opportunities.

Zac’s Uber ride is just one example of how access and opportunity combine to create life-changing outcomes. Each ride, each class, and each smile represents growth—not only for Zac but for every individual working toward their “Best of All.”

Way to go, Zac! We are so proud of you and can’t wait to see the many more milestones you’ll accomplish on your journey. 💛💙
