LMNOP (Language, Music N’ Our Peeps)

Language, Music N’ Our Peeps (LMNOP) guides parents and infants through learning basic sign language and through incorporating music and dance therapy into daily activities, to stimulate the child. LMNOP is designed for children 6-36 months old. The group leader for our LMNOP is speech pathologist professor, Dr. Jay, who is the director of the Elmhurst College Speech-Language-Hearing Clinic. Dr. Jay and her interns lead LMNOP every Tuesday at 10 a.m. Every session has a new theme and incorporates sign language, music, dancing, bubbles, and more.

While the program is both therapeutic and educational, there is another beneficial aspect to LMNOP. The program promotes bonds between families with children with Down syndrome. Families unite for a common cause and bind together to help their children grow and learn. Parents are able to find support from one another at LMNOP. They are also able to connect with one another before and after session to share their experiences in hope to benefit other families. Words can not fully describe the bonds created in LMNOP, but it is truly something beautiful! LMNOP is a great program for new parent to attend and it really represents what the GiGi’s family is all about. One new parent described the experience as “being met with a big hug” when she and her family attended LMNOP for the first time. #GiGiBelieves #BestofAll #love
