Have you Heard the News? GiGi’s Kitchen is back at Hoffman Estates!
Here at GiGi’s Playhouse, we strive to create an accepting environment where our participants, families, and supporters can truly feel at home. Our free programs foster an environment of education and success, each program provides a meaningful opportunity to teach our participants independence and confidence.
Over the last few months, we have wrapped up our new kitchen renovation! Our GiGi’s Kitchen program is one of the highest sought-after programs at our Hoffman Estates playhouse. This program is designed to emphasize the importance of a healthy lifestyle and exposure to practical cooking skills. Under the guidance of program leaders, participants will engage in activities designed to promote healthy eating habits, kitchen safety awareness, food preparation skills, self-confidence, and social skills by applying learned skills as they prepare and enjoy a shared meal!
Our new ADA compliant kitchen allows us the opportunity to expand our teaching abilities. With two fully functioning induction stovetops, an oven, a dishwasher, ADA compliant counter tops to allow better reach and access, and plenty of storage and cabinet space; we can simulate the experience of learning all the key goals of the GiGi Kitchen program, in a realistic environment!
This newest addition has allowed us to continue our GiGi Kitchen Adult at a higher capacity, reintroduce GiGi Kitchen Kids, and eventually bring in a GiGi Kitchen teen! We have been able to provide our volunteers with a better space for playhouse events, such as Fantastic Friends, Teen Tastic, End of Session Celebrations, holiday parties, and so much more to come!
