Finding Your Village at GiGi’s Playhouse

At GiGi’s Playhouse we pride ourselves on being a resource of community and support to all our families, but especially new moms. We truly work to ensure that every family feels the love, support, and community that we strive to create. We want to highlight one of the many beautiful stories shared with us by one of our new families.

When Noah was diagnosed with Down Syndrome, I was overwhelmed by fear and uncertainty. A pediatrician mentioned GiGi’s Playhouse. I was hesitant, scared even, to reach out. After a few weeks, I finally got the courage to call. That call was answered by Brooke—a sweet, compassionate voice that listened to my concerns with genuine empathy. She invited us to LMNOP, a supportive class for kids aged 0-3 filled with songs, socialization, and even sign language. I remember walking through those doors for the first time when Noah was just a month old.

What greeted me was nothing short of magic. Brooke, Alison, other moms, and the volunteers welcomed us with open arms, smiles, and heartfelt congratulations. And then, as if the universe conspired the founder of GiGi’s Playhouse, Nancy Gianni happened to be there. Her enormous hug and radiant smile melted away my fears. That day, Noah was treated like a superstar. Everyone greeted him, held him, and showered him with love. The tears I shed as I sat in my car, after I left, were not tears of sadness but rather tears of joy.

I realized, for the first time, that I had found my tribe—a community that not only understands but truly accepts Noah for who he is. I knew he would always have a place where he would be accepted. Gigi’s Playhouse has become our home away from home, a place where we belong and where Noah is celebrated every single day. I’m grateful for the journey that has led us here. Thank you to everyone at GiGi’s for being our family and for showing us the beauty of acceptance and love.
