November Participant Spotlight!

The Amina Grace Speech and Language Program has helped turn my daughter into a social butterfly! Through her speech therapy sessions, Louise has gained a large vocabulary, along with much-needed conversational skills. These achievements have led to a huge boost in her confidence and she is more outgoing amongst peers. We are thrilled with Louise’s progress with the program. We can’t thank you enough, GiGi’s Playhouse and the Amina Grace Speech and Language Program!” -Meagan, Louise’s mom

Creative. Silly. Sweet. Funny. Smart. Independent. This month’s participant spotlight is on 9-year-old Louise! Louise has been participating in the Amina Grace Speech and Language Program since its pilot in 2017. Louise loves to color, complete arts and crafts, play with her two younger sisters, watch videos, and roam around in the new gym. Louise always comes in the speech room with a snack and a coloring book in hand, ready to work! She knows with hard work comes the reward of a fun craft or activity of her choice!

During her sessions, we’ve been focusing on answering complex wh- questions, pacing and over-articulating to increase speech intelligibility, producing the /th/ and /f/ sound in words and phrases, producing grammatical morphemes, working on producing grammatical complex sentences, and expanding vocabulary. Louise is highly motivated by games, the iPad, and anything involving scissors, markers, and glue! Louise’s family is consistently present during sessions, listening via the headphones, and communicating with the therapist after the sessions to discuss what can be worked on at home, carryover/generalization activities, etc. The Amina Grace Speech and Language Program at the Hoffman Estates’ Playhouse is excited to see Louise continue to flourish!!
