Participant Best of All- Sammy

Sammy is currently in preschool and has been attending Literacy tutoring since Spring 2018. Within that short amount of time she has grown tremendously in her stamina. In the beginning of her sessions Sammy was able to attend to her tasks for about 3 minutes, but now eagerly goes to the tutoring room with one of her dolls and is able to attend for almost the full 45 minute session!
The great thing about tutoring at GiGi’s Playhouse is that we use a research-based curriculum proven to be successful with individuals with Down syndrome, but we also personalize the sessions for each student. Sammy LOVES her dolls and the movie Frozen. So we combined those loves and she uses her baby doll to match, name, select and we created her own personal Frozen book that also incorporates her sight words.
We love seeing our literacy participants grow. Look for Winter Literacy Registration to open on December 3rd!
