October 19th- Sandy and Olivia

“’You are so pretty, you are so beautiful, you are so sweet.’

I say these words everyday to Olivia, so much so that she signs “sweet” with a smile from ear to ear towards the end of the sentence. Every morning I look forward to seeing her, she fills my energy cup with her overflow of contentment. What a special gift given to us by God. Her eyes give me daily secrets that reveal more of who she is and ultimately shape me into being the mother that I need to be. I shout her worth to the world because who can keep these life lessons bottled up inside? Not me!

This month we celebrate Down Syndrome Awareness Month. Its a month dedicated to increasing our love and knowledge for people who have Down syndrome. I hope you continue to follow our journey and join our community as we change the story from sorrow to joy. Programs like GiGi’s Playhouse have impacted our family immensely. They give us the opportunity to connect with other families and build long lasting friendships. We feel included, supported, accepted and loved. Thank you GiGis’ Playhouse for all you do.”

– Sandy, mom to Olivia
