Meet the new intern!

My name is Emily Rowe and I am very excited for the opportunity to join the Fox Valley GiGi’s Playhouse team! I am 26 years old and born and raised in Cary IL. Currently I am a senior at Aurora University, pursuing my bachelors degree in disability studies. After graduating in May, I hope to attend grad school to pursue a masters degree in applied behavior analysis.

With my time spend here at GiGi’s, I’m eager to learn not only about the running of a nonprofit organization, and all that goes on behind the scenes. I am more importantly excited to get to know and work closely with the staff, kids, and families that make GiGi’s such a loving environment!

I’ve always known that I was destined to help others in my life. As one of my professors once told me, dignity is never waiting for better times! This statement rings true my belief that everyone, no matter their ability, should be given all opportunities they need to strive and reach their top potential in life!  Through the guidance of GiGi’s, and the wonderful programs and opportunities they provided to their students,I know I can learn a great deal to help shape my career and life in helping those with disabilities.

Yours Truly,

GiGi’s Playhouse Spring 2016 intern,

Emily Rowe
