Finding Ways To Help

When I entered college I knew how much I wanted to help individuals with disabilities. My life plan was all set. I was to get accepted into the Special Education Teaching program at my University and live out my passion of helping others. As I continued through my college experience I realized teaching was not the right field for me. I worried about what happens to individuals with disabilities after they are no longer in the school system. Indeed, changing my major was a big decision, but I couldn’t be happier finding organizations such as GiGi’s Playhouse Fox Valley to intern at. Each day here I have been more and more comforted by the fact that those who have a disability can come to a welcoming environment and spend time with friends and family each week. Every person deserves to feel at home and loved by others. GiGi’s Playhouse Fox Valley has shown me that strangers do in fact become family. I know I can count on all of you as supporters to help our friends accomplish their dreams here at the playhouse!
