Best of All- Kathryn

Best of All- Kathryn

Kathryn has been an active member of GiGi’s Playhouse Fox Valley for the past 10 years. We are lucky enough to have her as our outreach ambassador. Wednesday evening our volunteer orientation was lucky enough to have Kathryn there as a fellow presenter. Alderman Patty Smith and Kathryn spoke about what life was like before there was a GiGi’s Playhouse and how they had to go and search for support and services. We are so appreciative of moms, like Patty, who have paved the way for GiGi’s Playhouse and all the younger kiddos with Down syndrome.
Did you know Kathryn was one of the first students to be fully included in school district 204? She also received her diploma and went on to receive her associates certificate at the College of DuPage. This was not the norm 25 years ago! With hard work and determination Patty and Kathryn are showing that we are capable and we should presume competence!!!! Now Kathryn is a busy 28 year old woman working at the Aurora Public Library and also as an ambassador for ComEd. She has an active social life including a close group of girlfriends who get together monthly to play bunco. We are so lucky to have adults like Kathryn to be role models and show they are living their #bestofall life!!!
