Best of All: DuPage County Homeland Security

Best of All- DuPage County Homeland Security

Thank you to the DuPage County of Homeland Security and Emergency Management for providing us with donations in light of Covid-19! Talk about Best Of All!

This week, we had the opportunity to interview Adrian Ocampo, their Emergency Management Specialist:

Q: Tell us about your organization and what it does in the community.

One of the primary roles of the DuPage County Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Management is assisting our municipal partners related to planning and preparedness aimed toward enhancing the resiliency of the residents and businesses in DuPage County. When a critical incident impacts the county such as a tornado, flood, or the current COVID-19 pandemic, we also take on an operational role. For example, we have assisted the DuPage County Health Department with PPE management and distribution during the current pandemic.

Q: What is your role at the organization?

I am an Emergency Management Specialist. Much of the work I do is related to public health preparedness, planning, and training. I currently manage PPE distribution for 1st responder agencies and organizations such as yours that support and assist our residents.

Q: How did you find out about GiGi’s Playhouse?

DuPage County Board Member Dawn DeSart (District 5) alerted us to the fact that GiGi’s could possibly benefit from additional PPE. We are most thankful that Ms. DeSart connected us and that we were able to assist in a small way. We also thank you for everything that GiGi’s Playhouse does for our community.

Q: What is something that everyone can do to help in our current state?

We encourage you to visit our web site, www.ProtectDuPage.org and follow/like us on Twitter/Facebook (@ProtectDuPage) to obtain preparedness information for your family. If you have not yet completed your 2020 Census Survey, we strongly encourage you to do so. Census data is used to determine political representation in Congress, and to distribute billions in federal funds to local communities for services such as roads, bridges, healthcare, and other programs.  The data you provide to the Census Bureau is highly secured, and by law cannot be shared with any other governmental or private agency. For more information on the census visit https://www.dupageco.org/census/

Thank you Adrian and the rest of the DuPage County of Homeland Security and Emergency Management team for helping to keep our community safe!
