Program spotlight – Friends, Fun, & Fitness, CrossFit

GiGi’s Playhouse Fort Myers Friends, Fun, & Fitness, CrossFit program is a purposeful program that works to combat Hypotonia or low muscle tone. Hypotonia Impacts speech, digestion, fitness, fine and gross motor skills and more. Our participants’ biggest obstacle. Every person with Down syndrome has low muscle tone. If you do not have strong core muscles you cannot sit up straight. If you cannot sit up straight you cannot take proper breaths. If you cannot take proper breaths: you cannot speak or read properly.

Our friends at HYTE CrossFit provide this program for GiGi’s Playhouse participants for free. Their staff does an amazing job at tailoring this program to fit the needs to all participants within the program. Kate Hull-Ryde, Holli, Kate Fahey, Ive, Ben, Brian and the whole gang have a passion for what we do and are always interested in how they can help more.

You can support this and other fitness programs at #gigisplayhousefortmyers by volunteering or donating today.
