GiGi’s Playhouse Down Syndrome Achievement Center Announces Inaugural “A Night to Inspire” Event

DETROIT – September 16, 2019 – GiGi’s Playhouse Detroit, an internationally recognized achievement center focused on individuals with Down syndrome, is pleased to announce their inaugural “A Night to Inspire” with the theme of “Roaring 20’s in the D”. The fundraising event is set for Friday, October 11 at the Royal Oak Farmer’s Market, 316 E 11 Mile Rd, Royal Oak, MI 48067.

October is Down Syndrome Awareness Month, and this celebratory evening will provide for ongoing support and free programs to help individuals with Down syndrome in Metro Detroit achieve their best. A Night to Inspire: Roaring 20’s in the D will include a special VIP Soiree at 5:30 prior to the Main Event. VIP guests will experience a private reception on the West Porch of the Farmer’s Market including an open bar with signature cocktails, a special selection of hors d’oeuvres and a live performance by the Gary Greenfelder Orchestra’s quintet.

The Main Event kicks off at 6:30 with WXYZ News Anchor Ann Marie LaFlamme as emcee. The evening will include a strolling dinner, the open “Speakeasy” bar with themed cocktails, a 20’s themed dessert display, live music by the Gary Greenfelder Orchestra, a chance to win a diamond, a wonderful silent auction and the “Flappers and Fellas” photo area. “This inaugural ‘A Night to Inspire’ is designed to bring together parents, professionals and community members to celebrate the impact GiGi’s Playhouse is having in Metro Detroit. With hundreds of families served, this evening will help us increase our impact through additional programs and outreach,” said Lisa Kocab, GiGi’s Playhouse Detroit Board President.

GiGi’s Playhouse offers free educational, therapeutic and vocational programs to individuals of all ages with Down syndrome, their families, and the community. With 46 centers across North America, the Metro Detroit Playhouse, centrally located in Southfield, is the first Down Syndrome Achievement Center in the state of Michigan. Each GiGi’s Playhouse offers programs that focus on skill development in the areas of education, social, speech and language, career preparation, independent living and more.

For the last twelve years, GiGi’s Playhouse has extended individuals with Down syndrome and their families the chance to grow their confidence, skills and belief while advocating a global message of acceptance. GiGi’s Playhouse continues to strive for excellence and make a difference—one child, one diagnosis and one community at time.
