Therapeutic Play Center Idea Board

Therapeutic Play Center     We have created a monthly “Idea Board” to be used with the new Therapeutic Play Center. Each month a Therapeutic Play Centerdifferent theme will be posted which will give everyone different ideas/suggestions of how they can use this amazing play area. Our main emphasis will give suggestions to enhance speech and/or communication. We are also trying to incorporate some sign language descriptions which can be carried over to life at home.

In September, it suggested looking through the play area and finding “wet” and “dry” items. The board also showed how to sign both of these words. It was interesting to watch the children diligently looking for these things, signing & saying them, and having a small teaching moment for those that didn’t understand these adjectives.
In October, it suggested to look for different colors in the play area. An explanation of the sign for each color was given. There are so many colors in the play area that this activity could take some time!
When you visit GiGi’s next, make sure you take some time to read the “Idea Board” and use some of its suggestions. And, if you are the creative, adventurous type…we’d love to have you volunteer to create your own monthly idea that many kids and parents will enjoy!
