Volunteer Spotlight….Kristin Sohn!!

Meet Kristin Sohn! She has been volunteering for GiGi’s Playhouse Des Moines for over 4 years! Kristin started off as a tutor for a couple years but then in winter 2016 she needed more volunteer hours for a college class, so she helped with GiGi University and has been a consistent volunteer with  University ever since!

“Hello! My name is Kristin Sohn and I volunteer at Gigi’s while attending nursing school at Mercy
College of Health Sciences. Currently, I tutor and help the mentors with the GiGi Studio. My favorite thing about Gigi’s Playhouse is that each person here has his or her own individualized personality.  I feel like sometimes in society everyone is concerned about fitting in and following a certain trend, which molds their personality to be like one another.  However, at Gigi’s Playhouse every individual is his or her true self and it makes the atmosphere unique and creates an inviting community.  Since moving away for college, Gigi’s Playhouse has become my home away from home.”

We want to say thank you to Kristin and our countless number of volunteers. With your time and dedication we are able to turn belief in our children into real life achievement and acceptance!

Keep following GiGi’s Playhouse Des Moines blog to see more volunteer spotlights! If you would like to be featured please email a short paragraph about what GiGi’s Playhouse means to you and what is your favorite part about volunteering, along with a photo of you during a program! Email your entries at desmoines@gigisplayhouse.org. Thank you!!
