Meet our Summer Intern!

Hello, my name is Gillian Staten, and I just recently graduated from Iowa State University, where I majored in Child, Adult, and Family Services. During my major, I focused heavily on children and youth options. I have been working with children since I was about 13 years old. I began working with children when I started to nanny, and then took on a nursery assistant position, as well as a position at a daycare. I have spent many hours of my time, volunteering for United Way of Story County, Iowa State Lab School, Habitat for Humanity, and much more. Throughout these experiences, I have connected with many families, and formed long-lasting relationships.

I have always known that I wanted to work with children in some sort of way, whatever it may be. I really enjoy helping children and making sure they succeed in a way that is possible for each of them. After this summer, I plan to find a career that allows me to be able to help children reach their full potential.

When I am not working with children and families, I enjoy taking my Golden Retriever, Dexter, on car rides and walks around the block, spending time with friends and family, and trying out new restaurants around the local area.
