Volunteer Spotlight: Sierra
Name: Sierra Crow
Tell us a little bit about yourself.
A little bit about me…I am a newly-wed with two cats, Daisy & Duke (pun intended) residing here in Jackson Township. I graduated from Kent State University, obtained my CPA and currently work as a senior accountant for Diversified Energy. Recently, I started business as Accounting Crow to do tax & accounting. Other than home, work, or working from home, you’ll find me at volunteering at GiGi’s Playhouse or out shopping!
We want to get to know you! What are some of your favorites? (food, color, season, activity, restaurant, place to shop, etc.)
My favorite color is blue, favorite season is fall & favorite activity is shopping (anywhere & everywhere)!!
How did you learn about GiGi’s and what prompted you to become a volunteer?
I learned about GiGi’s through Megan (Site Manager). At the time, there was a need for a Treasurer with experience in Finance/Accounting & so I applied to join the board because I loved the #GenerationG mission!
Tell us more about what you do at the Playhouse!
I joined the GiGi’s Playhouse Canton Board in October 2021, then shortly after became the Treasurer & Finance Committee Chair at the beginning of 2022. Since that time, I helped lead the pilot of the Math Tutoring program and kicked off the GiGi’s Canton Youth Board. Currently, I remain as Treasurer, Chair of the Finance Committee & Youth Board Facilitator. As Youth Board Facilitator, I help in facilitating middle & high school aged students to lead and operate the GenG Youth Board at the Playhouse to increase awareness for individuals with Down Syndrome, as well as creating an environment that is accepting, generous and kind: the three fundamentals of the Generation G Promise. As the Treasurer and Finance Committee Chair, there is a lot of work behind the scenes managing our bank balances, planning our budgets & hopefully making sure we can keep the FREE programs we offer at the Playhouse operating for many years to come!!
What is your favorite experience you have had at the Playhouse?
I have truly never had a bad experience at the Playhouse.
One of my favorite experiences more recently was helping give a tour of the Playhouse. Just before our big A Night Out event this year, Megan was unfortunately sick and could not make it to the Playhouse to give a tour to some of our amazing donors which was scheduled prior to the event. I went to the Playhouse early, eager to help and also slightly nervous, and so I began cleaning up a little around the Playhouse until it was time for the tours to begin. Just before the tours began, I was excited to see Justin & Kasen Woodard walk in, as Kasen was THE BEST helper at giving the tour!
Sierra has been instrumental in bringing some “firsts” to the Canton Playhouse, from our math program to our Youth Board. If we have a dream, Sierra is always helping find a way to make it happen! Thank you for being #GenerationG and supporting all our Playhouse efforts, Sierra – we appreciate you!
