Generation G Youth Board

Welcome to the first GiGi’s Playhouse Canton Youth Board blog post! These blog posts will give you information about what the Youth Board is working on, such as fundraisers and outreach events. The Youth Board is a group of students that are part of the GenerationG movement to help bring awareness and spread positivity about Down syndrome.

What is the Youth Board?

The GiGi’s Playhouse Canton Youth Board is made up of dedicated and motivated high school students who see the importance of increasing awareness for individuals with Down syndrome, as well as creating an environment that is accepting, generous and kind: the three fundamentals of the Generation G Promise. The purpose of the Youth Board is to spread the message of Generation G through hosting events for members of the community and GiGi’s Playhouse families and encouraging other high school students to commit to signing and carrying out the Generation G Promise.

We plan fundraisers, help with events, and spread the #GenerationG message to our peers. Recently, our Youth Board volunteered at A Night Out with the Cleveland Keys Dueling Pianos. A Night Out is a fun event that includes dinner and dessert from La Pizzaria, live music from the Cleveland Keys, raffles, a silent auction, and a whole lot of dancing! We loved seeing our participants, our supporters, and our volunteers having a fun time. A Night Out is important to GiGi’s Playhouse Canton because it is our biggest fundraiser of the year; This year we raised over $120,000! These donations go towards fulfilling our mission of changing the way the world views Down syndrome through funding FREE, purposeful programs, monthly expenses, and fun things for the Playhouse.

Some of our programs include LMNOP, Destination Discovery, and our GiGi’s Kitchen program. Our programs and activities all contribute to Down syndrome development and bringing families together. Through free programs and through our Generation G Campaign for global acceptance, we EMPOWER families by maximizing opportunities for daily achievement and lasting acceptance. To ensure lasting acceptance, we must show the world what individuals with Down syndrome are truly capable of achieving as students, co-workers, volunteers, friends, and valued members of their communities.
