Best of All: Mallory Mastering Independence in the Kitchen!

At GiGi’s Playhouse, we cherish stories of growth, independence, and joy. We write with excitement to celebrate and spread the word about our ambitious chef- Mallory! She is a vibrant 13-year-old, who embodies the values above through her participation in our Teens Cooking Class.

For the past four years, Mallory and her family have been cherished members of our community.

Her parents share, “We’ve been bringing Mallory to GiGi’s Playhouse for the last four years. It’s been such a wonderful experience for her and us! It’s so nice to feel so welcomed by everyone at the Playhouse, whether it be by employees or volunteers. It’s such a comfort to know Mallory is in a place where she’s wanted and accepted for just who she is! It’s also been great connecting with other families who are experiencing a lot of the same things we are.”

Mallory has participated in various programs at the Playhouse, including dance and fitness, but cooking has become her true passion. Each cooking session allows her to build confidence and independence as she learns proper nutrition and kitchen safety. She loves working alongside instructors, experimenting with new foods she normally wouldn’t try, and expanding her culinary skills.

Her enthusiasm for cooking is evident—she eagerly anticipates Kitchen Teen Cooking Night every Thursday, which has now become her favorite night of the week. One of her favorite achievements so far is learning how to make homemade chicken nuggets from scratch! As Mallory was leaving the playhouse with a smile on her face she says “I cannot wait to make this for everyone at home!”. No other feeling compares to seeing our participants leaving our programs knowing they are capable of new skills! Her dedication shines brightly with every new dish she creates.

Learn more about our GiGi’s Kitchen program, and get ready to enroll for summer session in just a few short weeks by visiting https://gigisplayhouse.org/canton/gigis-kitchen/! Enrollment for summer session will begin the week of March 24th and close on April 20th.
