The Best Years of My Life: 

Nicole’s journey as a volunteer at GiGi’s Playhouse is deeply rooted in the love she shares with her best friend and husband, Ben. Over a decade ago, they sealed their commitment to each other, making these years the best of their lives. Together, they eagerly await the day they can hold their sweet and determined daughter, Ada Ruth, lovingly known as “Ruey,” who currently resides in China. Their family is further enriched by two mischievous kittens, Lily-Belle and Josey, who keep the Morrett household lively with their playful antics. 

A Love for Camping and Music: 

For Nicole, there’s nothing better than a cool night, relaxing music, and a crackling campfire. She thrives on the joy of sharing a dinner table with her favorite people, with the backdrop of music inviting her to dance spontaneously. This zest for life and love for the simple pleasures create the perfect foundation for Nicole’s role as a dedicated volunteer at GiGi’s Playhouse. 

Finding Home at GiGi’s:

Nicole’s connection with GiGi’s Playhouse began when she and Ben decided to adopt a child with Down syndrome. Introduced to GiGi’s through friends, she recalls the warmth and acceptance that enveloped her from the moment she walked in. It was a place where congratulations and excitement greeted her, reaffirming the beauty and joy that lay ahead for her family. 

From Volunteering to Committee Contributions: 

Nicole’s volunteering journey has been dynamic, spanning various roles and responsibilities. From supporting classes to setting up and tearing down for small events, she’s lent her energy and enthusiasm to every corner of GiGi’s Playhouse. Her involvement in the Cleveland Keys event became a yearly tradition, and this year, she took on a bigger role by joining the committee for “A Night with the Keys for GiGi’s” fundraiser. Learn more about this fundraising event HERE!

Challenges and Authentic Connections: 

One of Nicole’s favorite experiences at GiGi’s Playhouse has been with the adult participants. Initially drawn to volunteering with babies and toddlers, she discovered a profound connection with the older participants who challenged her perspective and fostered genuine friendships. In their presence, Nicole feels free to be her most authentic self, inspired by the intelligence, kindness, generosity, and love that radiate from these remarkable individuals.
