Celebrating Kendall: A New Friendly Face at the Front Desk
At GiGi’s Playhouse Atlanta, we believe in creating a space where individuals with Down syndrome are empowered to grow, connect, and thrive and Kendall is a shining example of exactly that.
Kendall Salmon, 26, first began consistently attending GiGi’s programs in June, and in just a few short months, she has made an incredible impact. Today, she is not only a dedicated participant and volunteer, but also our new part-time Front Desk Greeter on Tuesdays, welcoming everyone who walks through our doors with warmth and confidence.
Kendall brings so much energy and personality to everything she does. A proud graduate of the Georgia Tech EXCEL program, she has been working at Target for nine years and continues to expand her skills and independence every day. When she’s not working or at GiGi’s, Kendall loves spending time with friends, family, and her pets. She’s also a self-proclaimed foodie, enjoys shopping, getting her nails done, and staying active—working out up to five or six days a week!
Since joining GiGi’s, Kendall has embraced a wide range of programs including our Amina Grace Speech Therapy, Art & Games, GiGiFIT, GiGi’s Kitchen, and most recently, our GiGi Prep program. Through these experiences, she has continued to grow her advocacy, communication, and life skills.
“I love each and every program I did,” Kendall shared. “It gives a sense of purpose and belonging.”
That sense of belonging is something Kendall has truly found at GiGi’s. When asked what she enjoys most, her answer was clear: the people. “The 100% main reason I enjoy GiGi’s Playhouse is the friends I made and the staff I build connections with and all of the adventures that we do.”
Kendall’s contributions don’t stop at the front desk. She also plays an important role in supporting marketing efforts at the Playhouse—capturing photos during programs and working alongside Jen to create promotional videos that help share the GiGi’s mission with the broader community. Through this work, Kendall is building valuable skills while helping tell the stories that make our Playhouse so special.
From her very first day walking into the Playhouse to building meaningful relationships with peers and staff, Kendall has created memories that continue to inspire her journey. Those early connections played a big role in her continued involvement and ultimately led her to stepping into her new role as a staff member.
And right now, Kendall is celebrating big things: “Myself, obviously,” she says proudly. “And my new and improved opportunity with the Playhouse!”
We couldn’t be more proud of Kendall for all she has accomplished in such a short time. Her growth, determination, and positivity embody what it means to give your Best of All every single day.
Kendall’s journey is made possible because of a community that believes in inclusion and opportunity. When you support GiGi’s Playhouse Atlanta, you’re helping provide life-changing programs, meaningful employment opportunities, and a place where individuals like Kendall can thrive.
