Thank You for Having Me this Summer!

Hi!  My name is Elizabeth, and I can’t wait to intern at GiGi’s Playhouse this summer!  I just finished my freshman year at Wake Forest University in Winston-Salem, NC, where I am planning on double majoring in Mathematics and Elementary Education; however, I have otherwise lived in Atlanta all of my life and graduated from The Westminster Schools last May.  Ever since I can remember, I have always had a passion for working with children, whether with babysitting or volunteering through The National Charity League, or NCL, a mother-daughter community service organization that volunteers with 15 different philanthropies in the Atlanta community.  During my seven years as a member of NCL, I tutored and mentored countless kids of all ages, ranging from reading to children at The City of Refuge, a residency shelter for homeless women and their children, serving as a counselor at a back-to-school camp for students at Agape, an after school center for underprivileged children in the heart of the city, and organizing and operating a Halloween Costume Shop for the patients at Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta at Egleston.  For this reason, I am so excited to continue volunteering and working with children, teens, and young adults this summer at GiGi’s.  I know that the experience will not only be fulfilling and enlightening, helping me proceed on my journey to become an elementary school teacher, but that it will also be a summer that I will never forget!
