At GiGi’s Playhouse Westchester, our volunteers are the heart of everything we do, and each year we take great pride in recognizing individuals who truly go above and beyond in service to our community. This year, we were honored to celebrate Carolyn Frost, whose unwavering dedication, compassion, and generosity have made a lasting impact on our participants, families, and programs. From the very beginning, Carolyn has exemplified what it means to show up with purpose, adapt in times of need, and create meaningful connections that extend far beyond the walls of the Playhouse.

Ethan was asked to present this award because of his genuine connection to Carolyn and the meaningful role her classes have played in his life. He jumped at the chance and was delighted to be given this prestigious honor. As a consistent participant in her yoga sessions, Ethan has experienced firsthand the care, encouragement, and joy that Carolyn brings to every class. His perspective reflects the true impact of her dedication, making him the perfect person to honor her and share what her volunteerism means to those she supports.

Good evening, everyone,

My name is Ethan, and I am a participant at GiGi’s Playhouse Westchester. It is my absolute honor to present this year’s Above & Beyond Award for Outstanding Volunteerism to Carolyn Frost. I love Carolyn’s yoga classes!

Carolyn first found us in February of 2020, eager and ready to bring yoga to our teens and adults. As we all know, just weeks later, the world changed. When we were forced to close our doors, many of us were unsure how we would stay connected, but not Carolyn. Without hesitation, she pivoted, beginning her classes online and opening her heart (and even her home) to all of us. We were welcomed not only by her calming presence, but often by her family, and her dog, making each session feel warm, personal, and grounding.

During those uncertain and isolating COVID times, she became more than an instructor. She was a lifeline. She checked in, she listened, and she genuinely cared about how each participant was feeling. She helped all of us find a sense of calm and balance when we needed it most.

Her dedication never wavered. She continued offering hybrid classes, ensuring that everyone, no matter their circumstances, could participate. We are so excited to welcome her back into our new Playhouse in person.

Her commitment goes far beyond the mat. In 2023, she joined our Gala Committee, where she brought not only her energy and enthusiasm, but also her connections and ideas, helping elevate our events in meaningful ways.

If we ever questioned her dedication, let me leave you with this: earlier this year, she led a virtual yoga class from a hotel lobby in Florida after being stranded there in a snowstorm. That is above and beyond.

She is dedicated, motivated, compassionate, and incredibly generous. She embodies everything this award represents.
