Exciting News…We are Expanding Outdoors!

We frequently talk about the continued growth in participation at the Playhouse and with this growth comes exciting news…we are expanding at the Playhouse! Permits have been approved and by this time next year we will have a beautiful outdoor learning environment behind the Playhouse. The new area will enable us to continue providing purposeful programming currently offered indoors, now through an outdoor therapeutic garden space as well.

While programs like Seed to Sale will use the space, it will be open to all programs. LMNOP participants can have a picnic and learn new signs like sun, blanket, and ant. Kids Club participants can learn about bugs, camping, or how to make paint colors with flowers. Our adult participants attending career programming will be able to harvest their hard work in the form of produce/plants and sell to our community creating independence and awareness. We will also use the space to support our kitchen programs!

The new 85′ by 35′ space will engage all senses and allow families to connect with nature through features like a sensory walking path, naturally made seating areas, outdoor music equipment, water features and more! So, what is next and how can you help? We are looking at scheduling a few workdays starting in June and we can use the following:

Physical labor

Garden equipment (rototiller, edgers, hole digger, etc.)

Supplies (lumber, pea gravel, pavers, etc.)

Expertise (gardening and / or construction)

If you are interested in helping with any of the above, please connect with Erica at eerdman@gigisplayhouse.org or 715-907-1867.
