The Joy of Cooking and Connecting: Haley’s Journey with GiGi’s Kitchen Adult

One of the most fulfilling moments in Haley’s life happens every week when she steps into the kitchen for her cooking class. Each dish she creates is a delicious and nutritious masterpiece, and the best part? Sharing that meal with her parents, who are always eager to enjoy the masterpiece she’s created. “Haley feels a great sense of accomplishment after completing delicious and nutritious recipe from start to finish.”
Haley’s journey with the Virtual Playhouse started last year when her sister, Analie, became the program lead for the virtual GiGi’s Kitchen Adult program. Since they were living in different states, they decided it would be a great opportunity to bond and spend time together virtually. This is Haley’s second session with GiGi’s Kitchen Adult, and it’s been wonderful to see the progression she’s made.
For Haley, GiGi’s Kitchen Adult has become a cornerstone of her routine. “The Virtual Playhouse has become so important that we now plan everything around the virtual programming sessions,” Every week, she looks forward to joining the class, excited to learn new recipes and techniques that continue to enhance her culinary skills. It’s been a remarkable journey of growth, and it’s clear to see how much she’s developed. From measuring ingredients more accurately to following steps more independently, Haley has made tremendous strides.
But it’s not just the cooking skills that stand out—it’s the sense of community. The Virtual Playhouse has played a pivotal role in Haley’s life, and beyond her own growth, “we’ve noticed a broader trend. Young adults with Down syndrome from across the country are showing up every week to participate in the virtual programs, and the impact is truly inspiring.”
