GiGi’s Online Book Club Launches with Harry Moon: GiGi’s Journey

Our new Online Book Club has officially launched, and it’s already been a huge hit! Each week, participants come together virtually to read Harry Moon: GiGi’s Journey and dive into meaningful discussions and fun activities.

We’re especially excited about this collaboration with Harry Moon Books, which brought GiGi’s Journey to life—a magical, whimsical story for readers featuring a brave main character with Down syndrome. The book not only introduces GiGi (inspired by the real-life GiGi Gianni) into the world of Harry Moon but also highlights important themes of kindness, inclusion, and acceptance while giving readers a deeper understanding of Down syndrome.

During each lesson, the group explores key moments from the story, sharing thoughts, predictions, and connections between the characters’ experiences and their own lives. Our program lead shared that everyone has been doing an exceptional job answering questions, finding important story details, and making thoughtful connections between events and emotions—inspiring each other to dig deeper into the story!

We also heard from one of our participants family who shared how much they are enjoying the program:

“Book Club online is going really well and is a lot of fun. I love discussing with everyone and meeting new friends. It makes me think hard while having fun!”  — Mia S., from Sacramento, CA

“We love seeing our readers so engaged and excited each week. Thank you to everyone who’s joined us on this magical reading adventure—and stay tuned, because we’re thrilled to be offering this program again soon!”  — Gabriella S., program leader from Hillsborough, NJ
