Three Years! GiGi’s Playhouse – Syracuse

Three Years! Three Years!! I can’t tell you how exciting it is to be celebrating our third anniversary! Every year I like to take this time and reflect on where we began and review where we are today as a Playhouse. I am proud of the team we have in place and the hard work they have put in, which has allowed us to be open for three years. This past year we have we have streamlined the way our office works, we have increased programming and participation. What more could a Board President ask for? If you haven’t met Christina, she is our new Site Coordinator and works for us full time, which enables our Playhouse to be open from 9am – 5pm Monday – Friday!

12278996_774155489380237_4982024654841472675_nWe are excited for 2016 where we will work on expanding our outreach and awareness while continuing to look at our program metrics and how to help our children and adults with Down syndrome achieve their “BEST OF ALL”. Just having come back from our trip to the National Conference in Chicago, we are excited about all that our National office is working on to help all of the Playhouses around the country grow and expand. We are also excited about #generationG, which if you haven’t heard about yet, I encourage you to go to read about it HERE. More info on how you can help will be coming soon!

For those that don’t get to see us on that National Level, Syracuse is now 1 of 28 Playhouses throughout the United States and Mexico, and the National Office has over 140 inquiries from people interested in opening Playhouses in their area. 140!! That is just amazing and so exciting to me, as GiGi’s Playhouse-Syracuse opened as the 11th Playhouse back in 2012. Look how much our network has grown!! Right now, our neighbor to the west, Rochester, is in phase one of opening a Playhouse and we could not be more excited for them. We are looking for ways to work with them and help them along on their journey to having their own local Playhouse.

Thank you for believing in our Playhouse, attending our programs, volunteering and donating time and funds which have helped us get to our 3rd Anniversary! I look forward to many more years here serving our children and adults with Down syndrome in Syracuse and the surrounding area! ~ Janet Lasalle, Syracuse Board of Managers President.
