GiGiFIT for Adults: Strength, Stability & Routine
At GiGi’s Playhouse, we are dedicated to empowering individuals with Down syndrome through purposeful, engaging, and completely FREE programs designed to support their growth and independence. One of our most exciting programs, GiGiFIT, focuses on building strength, endurance, power, joint stability, balance, and movement control—essential skills that improve everyday life.

Currently, we offer GiGiFIT classes for Adults, Teens, and Toddlers, each tailored to the unique needs of their age group. While all our classes target similar physical goals, they are designed differently to ensure every participant gets the most out of their experience.
Whether it’s adults mastering foundational exercises, teens building confidence, or toddlers learning through movement, GiGiFIT is all about having fun while getting stronger!
GiGiFIT for Adults: Strength, Stability & Routine

Our adult program is split into three different classes, each with a unique structure but all focusing on improving strength, mobility, and overall fitness.
Wednesday & Friday Class: These classes are a bit more dynamic! Led by incredible volunteers, this class keeps participants engaged and moving with a mix of exercises that change each week. While every session looks a little different, the goal remains the same: building strength, endurance, and confidence.
- Tuesday Class: This session follows along with carefully crafted exercise videos from our Virtual Playhouse. The exercises stay the same each week, providing a predictable and structured environment that helps participants feel confident and prepared. The workouts include classic moves like push-ups, planks, squats, and sit-ups—exercises that you’d find in any great fitness routine! While the class is virtually led, we have dedicated volunteers on-site to provide encouragement and hands-on assistance when needed.
Regardless of the format, GiGiFIT for adults provides a supportive, motivating, and structured space where participants can improve their fitness, build friendships, and have a great time while doing it!
GiGiFIT for Teens & Toddlers: Energy, Fun & Movement!
Our Teen and Toddler GiGiFIT classes bring a whole different energy! Unlike our adults, who have already mastered structured routines, our teens and toddlers are at very different developmental stages, meaning their classes require a bit more flexibility and fun.
Teen Class: Teens are still learning how to balance school, activities, and structured movement. They may need extra reminders and guidance, but they’re working just as hard! Our teen classes focus on developing strength and endurance while also encouraging teamwork and confidence. These sessions often incorporate fun games and challenges to keep our teens engaged and motivated.

Toddler Class: Now, if you’ve ever worked with toddlers, you know that structure can sometimes go right out the window! But don’t be fooled—our youngest participants are still learning, growing, and developing strength through movement-based activities. While it may look like playtime, every hop, jump, and stretch helps them build the foundation for lifelong physical fitness.
Sure, these classes can sometimes feel a little chaotic—but that’s part of the magic! Even amid the energy and excitement, our participants are getting stronger, improving coordination, and learning new skills in a way that feels natural and fun.

Why GiGiFIT Matters
Staying active is important for everyone, but for individuals with Down syndrome, physical activity plays a crucial role in supporting muscle tone, coordination, and overall health. Many individuals with Down syndrome experience low muscle tone (hypotonia), which can impact balance and movement. GiGiFIT helps address these challenges in a way that is encouraging, engaging, and tailored to the unique needs of each age group.
Beyond the physical benefits, GiGiFIT also fosters a sense of community. Participants not only gain strength but also build friendships, confidence, and independence. Whether they’re following along with virtual workouts, engaging in hands-on exercises with volunteers, or playing movement-based games, every session is designed to empower and uplift.
