Meet Our Spring Interns!

The Southern Tier Playhouse is lucky to hold a strong partnership with Binghamton University. During the Fall and Spring semesters the majority of our group and 1:1 program volunteers are BU students. Through the Human Development program, students must complete a 100 hour internship with a local non-profit. We are lucky to have three HDEV students with us this semester who are making a big impact on our day to day operations and programs! Meet Shannon, Marissa, and Katie!

Shannon: “Hi my name is Shannon Strehle I’m a senior at Binghamton University studying Human Development with a minor in speech and hearing science! I am studying to become a Speech Language Pathologist and going to grad school in the fall. I am from Rockland County, NY. I just started interning at GiGi’s this semester and I’m involved in the cooking class and lunch bunch! It’s been one of my favorite parts so far! I’m excited to continue my involvement as an intern throughout the semester!”

Katie: “Hi! My name is Katie Blauner! I’m a senior at Binghamton University and I am majoring in human development. I’m from Westchester, NY. I volunteered at GiGi’s in the fall for art explosion! I’m so happy to be here again as an intern this spring! GiGi’s has truly changed my life and brought me so many happy memories. I’m studying to become a social worker and being at GiGi’s is helping me get closer to that end goal.”

Marissa: “Hi everybody! My name is Marissa Patlin and I am a junior at Binghamton university studying to be a speech pathologist. I volunteered for the GiGiFIT program in the fall and absolutely loved it so I decided to be an intern this semester. I am looking forward to gaining even more experience and becoming more involved throughout this semester. GiGi’s Playhouse is an incredible organization that I could not be more thankful to be part of!”
