Meet Birdie!

My name is Birdie Rittenburg.  I am 48 years old and was born with Down syndrome.  I had a lot of struggles in my life and one was a life situation.  At the age of 5 I was going through open heart surgery and had to wait for the best surgeon in the world! The surgery went very well and the waiting was taking forever! At the end the prayers worked.  Now once a year I go for checkups with my heart Dr.  He comes down from Syracuse.

Being born with Down syndrome, to me, it means that I am unique in my own way and who I really am.  Acceptance means that I am accepted with my abilities.

I am excited to have GiGi’s Playhouse in the area because I want everyone to achieve their goals.  We ALL have ABILITIES not DISABILITIES.  We have UP syndrome not Down syndrome.
