Best of All Moment: Sawyer!

At GiGi’s Playhouse, we aim to create an environment that fosters learning and development. Our priority is that our participants have the opportunity to work towards their goals. That’s why we like to highlight “Best of All” moments with our participants. “Best of All” is a daily challenge to do a little better than you did the day before and it’s always celebrated. Possible manifestations include: standing just one second longer, reading just one more word, learning just one new number, taking just one more step, never a competition, never completed.

This week, we would like to give a shoutout to our friend Sawyer! In September, we had our monthly Destination Discovery program. Sawyer typically struggles to find foods that he enjoys and sticks to eating a couple of the same things each day. However, during snack time when offered animal crackers, Sawyer decided to give it a shot. To our surprise, Sawyer loved them!

With our friends at GiGi’s Playhouse, we celebrate small victories every single day. What may seem insignificant to one individual could be life changing for another. That is why we specialize each program to be unique to each participant. Everyone is different and we need to recognize and celebrate these differences. It is essential that we praise our participants for their wins no matter how big or small they might be. Through the use of peer collaboration, we push our participants out of their comfort zones to expand their horizons. Whether it be learning a new word, trying a new snack, or getting through a bad day, any “Best of All” is recognized and celebrated at GiGi’s Playhouse!

Here is what Sawyers mom had to say:

One more reason we are forever grateful to have GiGi’s Playhouse in our community….
Yesterday some wonderful volunteers at GiGi’s got Sawyer to try animal crackers and he loves them!
Trying new foods doesn’t come easily for my guy. I love that we have a village that understands this and helps us every step of the way 💙💛
