Big League Fun at the Playhouse & the Ballpark!

We recently had the incredible honor of welcoming some very special guests to our LMNOP program led by Mrs. Danielle Conforti. Texas Rangers player Jake Burger, along with Oakland Athletics stars Zack Gelof, Colby Thomas, Max Muncy, and of course the one and only Stomper, joined us for a morning full of baseball fun, laughter, and playtime.

For Jake Burger, this visit was especially meaningful. Last October, Jake and his wife Ashlyn welcomed their daughter, Penelope (“Poppy”), who was born with Down syndrome. Since then, Jake has been a true champion of acceptance, proudly changing his number to 21 in honor of World Down Syndrome Day, using his platform to raise awareness, and now, taking time out of his game day to spread joy at our Playhouse. Even more inspiring—Jake has made it his mission to visit GiGi’s Playhouses in every state his team plays, creating a “Playhouse Tour” that spreads love, awareness, and acceptance across the country.

After a morning filled with songs, smiles, and lots of giggles, the celebration continued at the ballpark! GiGi’s Playhouse Sacramento was honored as the nonprofit partner of the game and our families had an absolute blast cheering from the stands. From meeting the players to experiencing the magic of the game, it was a home-run day we’ll never forget.

We are so grateful to Jake Burger, the Athletics players and staff, announcer Jared Sandler, and the entire A’s organization for making this moment possible. Thank you for shining a light on our Playhouse, our participants, and the power of acceptance.

What a reminder that when community, sports, and love come together, the result is nothing short of amazing!
