Passion in Action: Fran’s Incredible Impact on LMNOP

We are so excited to shine our Volunteer Spotlight on Fran — a dedicated, compassionate leader who has made an extraordinary impact on our GiGi’s community. Fran is a former Special Education and Reading Intervention Teacher who has been volunteering with us for just over a year. From the very beginning, she brought a wealth of knowledge, experience, and heart to our programs. In the new year, she stepped into an even larger role by helping lead the revamp of our LMNOP program, and the results have been nothing short of incredible.
With her professional background in special education and literacy intervention, Fran understands the importance of intentional, developmentally appropriate learning experiences. When the opportunity arose to refresh and strengthen LMNOP, she embraced the challenge wholeheartedly. Fran took on a leadership role within the program, dedicating countless hours behind the scenes to thoughtfully designing lesson plans and hands-on activities. Her goal has been clear: to ensure that every LMNOP session is engaging, purposeful, and high-quality for the families we serve.
Fran approaches lesson planning with both creativity and strategy. Each activity is carefully designed to support early language development, motor skills, social interaction, and routine-building — all while keeping the joy and energy that make LMNOP so special. She considers how songs, movement, sensory play, and structured routines can work together to create a meaningful learning experience. Because of her thoughtful preparation, sessions flow smoothly and families leave feeling supported and empowered with ideas they can continue at home.
Of course, Fran does not do this work alone. She collaborates closely with three other incredible volunteers who share her commitment to excellence. Together, this team works seamlessly to bring LMNOP to life each week. Fran’s leadership style is both encouraging and inclusive. She listens to ideas, builds on strengths, and ensures that every team member feels valued. Her ability to balance organization with warmth has helped create a strong foundation for the program’s continued growth.
The impact Fran has on the room is immediate and unmistakable. The moment she walks in, her passion and love for what she does shine through. She greets families with genuine enthusiasm and takes time to connect with each child. Her energy is contagious — upbeat, positive, and reassuring. She has a special way of making both children and caregivers feel seen and supported, whether it’s celebrating a small milestone or offering gentle encouragement during a challenging moment.
Fran has formed meaningful relationships with our littles, learning their personalities, strengths, and goals. She celebrates their progress with authentic excitement and helps create a safe environment where they can explore, try new skills, and build confidence. Her background in education allows her to naturally weave teaching moments into play, but it’s her heart that truly sets her apart. She leads with patience, kindness, and an unwavering belief in every child’s potential.
Beyond the lesson plans and leadership meetings, Fran’s dedication shows in the countless small details that often go unnoticed — arriving early to prepare materials, staying late to tidy up, checking in with families, and continuously reflecting on how to improve the program. Her commitment goes far beyond volunteering her time; she invests her whole heart.
We are beyond grateful for Fran’s creativity, dedication, and servant leadership. The growth and success of our newly revamped LMNOP program are a direct reflection of her hard work and vision. Our families benefit each week from her thoughtful planning and joyful spirit. Fran embodies what it means to be a GiGi’s volunteer — passionate, generous, and deeply committed to empowering our participants. We are so lucky to have her as part of our volunteer community, and we cannot wait to see the continued impact of her incredible work.
