Celebrating World Down Syndrome Day at GiGi’s💙💛
Every year on March 21st, we come together to celebrate the incredible lives of our friends with Down syndrome. World Down Syndrome Day is a time where we raise awareness, advocate, push for inclusion and have fun while doing son! This year at GiGi’s, we made sure that the celebration was one to remember. It was a day full of food, fitness, and a little bit of sparkle.
Cooking Up Fun in the Kitchen🍓🥞
Our celebration kicked off with a special kitchen program run by one of our parents, Erica, where they made yummy energy bites, build your own parfaits and pancakes in a mug. Everyone got to specialize their food and be a chef for the day! This program allowed everyone to work together and create a special meal with one another!
Fitness with Val 💪
After fueling up, it was time to get moving and exercise with Val. She led a fun and engaging session that had everyone up and active, celebrating strength and movement. Whether it was stretching, lifting weights, or dancing, we all had fun staying active together!
Fairy Hair & Huge Smiles✨
Adding a little extra sparkle to the day, local hairdressers came and put fairy hair in participants hair – giving them shimmering strands of color helping them feel even extra special! Seeing everyones excitement as they got to brighten up their style was heartwarming!
Capturing the Magic📸
No event is complete without capturing all of the beautiful moments of the day! We were so lucky to have an amazing photographer, Brent come in and dedicate his time to capture these moments for us to look back on! From huge smiles in the kitchen, to action shots during fitness and glimmering hair transformations, these photos will remind us of all the unforgettable moments during the day!
A Day to Remember
World Down Syndrome Day is about more than just a celebration-it’s about embracing inclusion, celebrating abilities, and sharing love. Thank you to everyone who made this day so special, from our volunteers and program leaders to our families and friends. Let’s continue to advocate, educate, and celebrate each and every day!💙💛
